There is no moderation at the top of the world; this is scenery that banishes small talk. Jagged mountain ranges, endless plains of tundra, and broad tumbling rivers give the impression of enormous strength, the grace of sheer power. Spring comes carefully to this land: winter is never far away. Rising eagerly from the frozen ground, wildflowers strain towards the thin but ever present arctic summer sunshine, their colors crowding and jostling across sweeping slopes shared with migrating caribou, solitary brown bears, and companionable herds of muskoxen. Polar bear stalk seal on the ice pack and geese honk in the distance.
